Effects of Rural Population Aging on Agricultural Carbon Emissions in China

چکیده

The “double carbon” goal (China aims to achieve carbon peak by 2030 and neutrality 2060) puts forward new requirements for the low-carbon development of agriculture. However, with increasing aging rural population gradual agricultural labor force, determining best means achieving target reducing emissions is particularly urgent. Based on IPAT identity relationship (method decomposing environmental impact (I) into socio-economic variables: (P), affluence (A), technology (T)), population, residents’ income, innovation were selected as threshold variables. Using provincial panel data from 2003 2020 in China, this study empirically analyzed through a threshold–STIRPAT expansion model. results showed that an inverted U-shaped growth trend reached 2016. Baseline regression found has significant emission reduction effect emissions. In addition, income have positive negative impacts emissions, respectively. three factors variables, it was there effect. weakens deepening degree but enhanced improvement innovation. view these findings, policy suggestions are put alleviates effects aging, increases strengthens technological

Changes in agricultural carbon emissions and factors that influence agricultural carbon emissions based on different stages in Xinjiang, China

Xinjiang's agricultural carbon emissions showed three stages of change, i.e., continued to rise, declined and continued to rise, during 1991-2014. The agriculture belonged to the "low emissions and high efficiency" agriculture category, with a lower agricultural carbon emission intensity. By using the logarithmic mean divisia index decomposition method, agricultural carbon emissions were decomp...

Modeling impacts of carbon sequestration on net greenhouse gas emissions from agricultural soils in China

[1] Soil organic carbon (SOC) contents in many farmlands have been depleted because of the long-term history of intensive cultivation in China. Chinese farmers are encouraged to adopt alternative management practices on their farms to sequester SOC. On the basis of the availability of carbon (C) resources in the rural areas in China, the most promising practices are (1) incorporating more crop ...

T he main aim of this study is to investigate the impacts of population total, gross domestic product per capita, urbanization rate and energy use on carbon emissions in Nigeria for a period of 1981-2015 using autoregressive distributed lag approach to co-integration (ARDL). The empirical results revealed evidence of a long run relationship among the variables. The generalized ridge ...
